Privacy Policy
Last updated: 23 July 2026
The short version:
- We collect only what we need to build your resume and cover letter.
- We never sell your personal information. To anyone.
- The free resume checker does not save your resume — the file is read once to score it, then gone.
- Payments are handled by Stripe — we never see your card number.
- Want something corrected or deleted? Email us and we'll do it: support@aussieresume.com.au.
Who we are
Aussie Resume (aussieresume.com.au) is a small Australian business. We build Australian-format resumes and cover letters for people who are new to Australia. For anything in this policy, contact support@aussieresume.com.au.
What we collect
- The details you type into the builder — your name, phone, email, suburb, work history, education, certificates, and work rights as you choose to enter them. We use these to write your resume and cover letter. We never ask for your date of birth, passport number or TFN — they don't belong on an Australian resume, so we don't want them.
- Your email address — to send your sign-in link, your receipt, and your documents. If you give us your email at the free checker, we store the email and a count of your scans — not your resume.
- Payment confirmation — Stripe processes your payment and tells us it succeeded. Your card number goes to Stripe, never to us.
- Basic usage data — pages visited and actions like "started a check", collected through cookies and similar tools (see "Cookies & advertising" below). This is measurement data, not your resume content.
The free resume checker — what happens to your file
Here is the exact journey, because we'd rather be precise than vague. Your file is sent securely to our server so we can read the text out of it (a PDF or Word file has to be opened to be read). That happens once, in memory — the file is never written to a database, never saved to disk, never logged, and never sent to an AI. The text comes straight back to your browser, where the scoring happens, and the file is gone. The only things we may keep are the email address you give us at the email step and a count of how many checks you've run — never the resume itself.
How we use your information
- To generate your resume, cover letter and resume score — the thing you came for.
- To sign you in (email link), send receipts, and let you re-download paid documents.
- To answer your support messages.
- To understand what works on the site and measure our advertising (see below).
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't send marketing email unless you've given us your address and can unsubscribe at any time.
AI processing — being straight with you
Your resume and cover letter are written by AI. To do that, the details you enter are sent securely to our AI provider, Anthropic (the makers of Claude), which generates the text and returns it to us. We use Anthropic's commercial API, and under its commercial terms the content we send is not used to train their AI models.
Who helps us run the service
Like most modern websites, we rely on a small set of specialist providers. They process data only to provide their service to us:
- Vercel — hosts the website (USA).
- Supabase — stores your account email and your generated documents so you can re-download them (USA).
- Stripe — processes payments (USA/global). We never see card numbers.
- Anthropic — the AI that writes your documents (USA).
- Resend — sends our emails, like sign-in links and receipts (USA).
- Meta — advertising measurement on Facebook and Instagram (USA/global; see next section).
- PostHog — website analytics: which pages people visit and where they drop off, so we can improve the site (USA/EU). It never records your resume content — every form field and every piece of on-screen text is masked before anything is captured.
Because these providers are based overseas (mainly the United States), some of your information is processed outside Australia. We choose established providers with strong security practices, and we send them only what their job requires.
Cookies, analytics & advertising
We use cookies for things the site needs (like keeping you signed in), and we may use pixels, web beacons and similar storage technologies from third parties, including Meta (Facebook/Instagram), to collect or receive information from this website and elsewhere on the internet. Those third parties, including Meta, use that information to provide measurement services, and to target and deliver ads — so we can tell whether an ad actually helped someone find us, and show our ads to people more likely to need them. These tools never see your resume content.
We also use PostHog for website analytics — to understand which pages people visit and where they drop off, so we can make the site better. PostHog sets a cookie and may record anonymised session activity (clicks and scrolling), but it is configured to mask every form field and all on-screen text, so it never captures your resume, cover letter or any personal detail you type or see. You can opt out the same way as below (blocking or clearing cookies), and the site still works.
How to opt out. You can stop this information being used to target ads at you:
- In your Meta ad preferences (Facebook/Instagram settings → Ads).
- Through the industry opt-out page youradchoices.com.au.
- By blocking or clearing cookies in your browser settings — the site still works without them.
Information collected this way is shared with Meta and handled under Meta's Privacy Policy.
How we protect your information
Everything travels over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Your documents sit behind a signed-in session — a link alone isn't enough to open someone else's resume. We keep the number of people and systems that touch your data as small as we can. No system is perfectly secure, but if something ever went wrong in a way that could seriously harm you, we'd tell you and the OAIC — that's what the Australian notifiable data breach rules are for, and we'd follow them.
Who this site is for
Aussie Resume is built for people who are in Australia (or on their way here). We don't target or market our service to people in the European Union or the UK. If you're outside Australia and want your information deleted, ask us anyway — we handle those requests the same way for everyone.
How long we keep things
- Generated documents and your account email: kept so you can sign back in and re-download what you paid for.
- Checker uploads: not kept at all (see above).
- Payment records: kept as required for tax and accounting law.
Don't want us holding your data? Email us and we'll delete your documents and account information, except the minimal payment records the law says we must keep.
Your choices
- See your data: ask us and we'll send you a copy of what we hold about you.
- Fix it: if something's wrong, tell us and we'll correct it.
- Delete it: ask and we'll erase it (except legally required payment records).
- Unsubscribe: every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
All requests: support@aussieresume.com.au. We aim to respond within a few days, and we don't charge for these requests.
Complaints
If you think we've handled your information badly, email us first — we genuinely want to fix it. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged on the site.
